Everything today is so visible and approachable and you can thank video makers, who beautifully design it for you. If you are interested in editing or you are looking forward to making a career in editing then this might help you.

Having your own powerful edit machine is not so difficult, if you remember few basics before buying any edit computer, or if you want to build up your own computer into a powerful edit machine by assembling process, so here is the guide map in simple layman’s language. There are a few basic parameters you need to know before you choose any video edit machine or you plan to make it by assembling different elements which are crucial in making of powerful PC.

CPU

The computer’s speed and count tell the worth of the edit machine. If your computer is quick enough to finish editing tasks then be thankful to the CPU. This is the foremost and foundation stone for any editing PC. So investing in the CPU is very crucial. No matter what software you use whether it's Adobe Premiere, Sony Vegas, or Final Cut Pro if your computer doesn’t have a powerful processor it’s going to be slow. This is the area where you need to put your budget more. Minimum of 6- core CPU is considered for making the edit PC. Any powerful processor must have the capacity to edit at1080p resolution and handle 4K better. They should give higher resolution result with much faster speed and edit videos smoothly. Some of the preferred CPU that can be selected after comparing price and performance are:

i9-10900K

i7-9700K

Q4 2019,

Ryzan 5 1600 AF

AMD’S 16-core R9 3950X

AMD’S 24-core TR 3990X

Intel’s 16-core i9-980XE

The Graphics card

Graphics card helps in displaying images and videos, whereas GPU is a unit in a graphics card that helps in processing the images and videos. Graphics card is also important for professional edit on any computer. But with a powerful CPU, any decent graphics card or video card can be accompanied (until you are working with resolve software where a high-end graphics card is required). This card gives an advantage through acceleration for encoding and rendering. These cards come in different budgets with different names.

For beginners, RX 570 or GTX 1650 Super is enough. At 4K or above GTX 1660 is a better choice. The fastest cards are expensive too. So better to go for a cheaply available card for the editing machine. Unless you are planning to play PC games with your edit machines, there is no need to go for the high-end graphics card. So chill and focus more on the CPU with the decent graphics card.

RAM

This is the area where you need to explore a lot. This is really important to have RAM for smooth and streamlined video editing. If you edit the video at 1080p, then you must have a minimum of 8 GB. For 4k at least 16 GB is required. More RAM having 32 GB or 64 GB the more and better results you will b yielding. So along with a powerful CPU, decent graphics card, more RAM is always better for video editing and helps in achieving great results in a short time.

STORAGE( SSDs or HDDs)

While edit videos or other files storage is the most crucial component. These files or data have to be stored properly. So data storage in any edit machines can be stored on two drives.

Solid-state drives (SSDs) or Hard drive disks(HDDs). Both are usable for editing systems, but then if you want to go for one then the preference should be for SSDs because of their salient features and it provides a better storage advantage. While editing and playing multiple clips and playback during complex editing on timelines need better flow performance and SSDs support this phenomenon. For better storage, the configuration according to some studies should be SSD for everything ( OS/Software, Project File, Source Footage, Storage)SSD1 for OS/Software, SSD 2 for project files/Source Footage, SSD 3, or HDD for storage. PC builders can at least have a small (240+ GB) SSD for installing the operating systems and important software. This will improve the speed of PC’s operations.

MOTHERBOARD

The motherboard is the center component. After deciding on a CPU, you then need to find out a motherboard with a compatible socket. The socket on the motherboard has to be matched with the socket. Few things to remember that motherboard should support USB 3. For example, AMD Ryzen uses the AM4 socket

POWER SUPPLY (PSU)

For having a powerful PC, it’s important to have an ample amount of power supply for a video editing PC. 80+ rating of bronze or better can help you work efficiently without any failure and runs cooler.

The below kind of combination can results in powerful edit machine and can give you professional results.

Budgeted edit build in budget( Rs 43k- 45k)

CPU: AMD RYZEN 5 1600AF

Graphics card: RX 570

MOTHERBOARD: Gigabyte B450M

RAM: 8 GB DDR4

Storage: 1TB Intel SSD

Power Supply: Corsair CMX 550W

CPU Cooler: Stock

Case: Cooler Master MasterBox Q300L

Operating system: Window 10

Powered edit build in budget( Rs 68k- 70k )

CPU: AMD RYZEN 5 3600

Graphics card: RX 5500 XT

MOTHERBOARD: MSI B450M Pro-VDH Max

RAM: 16GB (2X8GB) DDR4

Storage: 2TB Intel SSD

Power Supply: Corsair CXM 550W

CPU Cooler: Stock

Case: Corsair 88R

Operating system: Windows 10

Professional edit build in budget(Rs 1.5 Lacs )

CPU: Intel i5-10600K

Graphics card: GTX 1660

MOTHERBOARD: Asus Prime Z490M-Plus

RAM: 32GB (4X8GB) DDR4

Storage 1 : 2TB Intel SSD

Storage 2 : 10TB HDD

Power Supply: EVGA G+ 650W

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212`

Case: Fractal Design Define S2

Operating system: Windows 10

Few combinations can results in power-packed edit machines, no matter if you have a tight budget, and you can still edit professionally and can make capable PC having high-quality 1080p videos. You can freeze out even greater performance by adding to 16 GB RAM. Even you can have more storage space by adding more HDDs or SSDs.

Have happy editing:)
